BOGGIATTO PRODUCE CONSUMER RECIPES
Boggiatto Produce Inc. is a company with dedicated, energetic people whose mission is to bring you fresh, high-quality vegetables. We ship our fresh produce throughout the United States and Canada, from the "Salad Bowl of the World" in John Steinbeck’s Salinas Valley. During the winter months, we move our operation to the Imperial Valley in the Southern California desert.
The roots of Boggiatto Produce run several generations deep in the Salinas Valley and we are proud to continue the tradition set forth by our forward-looking pioneer families. Agriculture is an important part of this valleys history and economy and the more you know about us, the better we can serve you.
These recipes include some old family favorites, but most were created just for you. Were pleased to share these recipes and hope you and your family enjoy them.
IMAGINATION
Imagination is a wonderful thing and youll find it in abundance within the following recipes. Most of these recipes were born of pure imagination, and were tested on friends and co-workers just for you.
If a recipe seems a little vague, use your imagination. Explore the contents of your kitchen and many wonderful things will appear! Dont just cook build and create.
Make changes. Take chances. Don’t be bound by convention or trends. And don’t be limited by the advice of experts. Instead, view it as a springboard for creativity. If it seems it might taste good to you, DO IT TO IT! Let those spices and herbs fly. Garlic and cayenne pepper can be your best friends. OK -- we’re not saying you can’t get carried away, but what a fun journey a journey of imagination.
These recipes are not made with the weight conscious in mind. Use your imagination and change ingredients so they better fit your dietary needs.
COOKING HINTS
Following are a few imaginative cooking hints, which might help you.
Use fresh vegetables whenever possible. The difference will be noticed in your finished creation, which is only as good as its ingredients.
After cleaning and preparing raw vegetables (other than leafy greens), soak them in cold water with fresh lemon juice for 30 minutes. This helps keep the color and flavor.
As a substitute for fresh basil, try using a prepared pesto sauce. Its easier, more convenient and its distinctive mix of ingredients can add a powerful flavor to foods.
Mix, match and substitute vegetables.
Shallots are an underused delight! Use them in lieu of onions and see for yourself!
Lemon pepper is great, but dont forget -- fresh lemon or lime juice might be better and dont neglect orange juice.
Dont kill your vegetables. Underdone is better then overdone!
Steamed vegetables hold their color, texture and taste better than boiled. Use a little citrus juice in the water.
